The classic floor designed by famous pop artist Robert Indiana, which once served as the basketball court at the Milwaukee Exposition Convention Center and Arena will be unveiled as a sculpture Saturday night at Milwaukee City Hall.  The event, running from 5:30 to 8pm, is part of Doors Open Milwaukee, which allows people to tour Milwaukee buildings this weekend.

Starbucks will begin a controversial ad campaign today when they run full-page ads in major newspapers, telling customers that guns are no longer welcome in its cafes. Starbucks mission statement is to "inspire and nurture the human spirit" and over the years, has taken strong positions on political issues like gay marriage, health-care benefits for workers and working with farmers who farm in an environmentally friendly way.

As reported by the MBJ, Herb Kohl successfully made his case to his fellow NBA owners for keeping the Milwaukee Bucks at an upgraded Bradley Center until 2017, but the league's incoming commissioner said Milwaukee still needs a new arena to meet today's NBA standards. Kohl said he and Bucks officials had to appear before a committee of NBA owners who would either accept of reject the Bucks request for an extension to continue using the 25-year-old Bradley Center.

The bill for the summer courthouse fire has reached $6 million and rising, but the cause remains a mystery. The county has received $6 million so far from the state Local Government Property Insurance fund, but more work needs to be done. The temporary electrical line fed into the courthouse to restore power remains vulnerable to overload.
