The Greater Milwaukee Foundation will hold its 3rd annual Match Day today, raising money for 20 nonprofits in hopes of raising awareness for basic needs in the greater Milwaukee area. The reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot an endangered falcon with shotgun pellets has been increased to $10,000. The Waterford based Global Conservation group pledged to match the $5,000 given by the U.S. Humane Society the day before. The wounded bird was found Feb 27th near 55th and Grant in West Allis. She was a part of a reintroduction program by WE Energies and had been nesting atop the Wauwatosa Power Plant. Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers at 414.476.CASH.
A woman who shares the name of famous pilot Amelia Earhart will be embarking on an adventure this summer...a flight around the world in a small plane. She hopes that by recreating and successfully completing the original 1937 journey, she will be able to get women excited about aviation. Only 6% of pilots are female. She will make 14 stops over the course of 14 days, traveling nearly 28,000 miles.
