Wisconsin will proved $10.6 million to help build a new Family Justice Center in Milwaukee that will consolidate domestic violence services and programs under one roof. The new center at 6th and Walnut, will include a 56-bed domestic violence shelter along with mental health services, a legal clinic and an education and conference center. This is a partnership between Children's Hospital of WI, Sojourner Family Peace Center, The Milwaukee Police department and the Milwaukee County district attorney's office.
Alverno College announced it will break ground on a $30 million expansion and renovation in March of 2014, the most significant enhancement in the College's 126-year history. The plans include a new classroom building, improvements to the School of Nursing and the creation of a new, larger student commons to enhance the student experience.
Wood National Cemetery will once again host Wreaths Across America this Saturday at 11am, to honor and remember our nation's veterans. The Civil Air Patrol, along with several veteran organizations will lay about 250 wreaths in the cemetery to honor veterans from all branches of the military, Merchant marines and those prisoners of war and missing in action. The BloodCenter of Wisconsin will host the "Season of Giving" blood drive on Thursday December 26th and Friday Dec 27th from 7am to 7pm at the Peck Welcome Center of the Milwaukee County Zoo. Donors will receive complimentary zoo admission the day of the drive and an admission ticket for a future date. Free childcare is also available for the 800 donors they hope to attract to this event.
