As part of its Coffee Connections series, the East Town Association will kick off 2014 with a talk on the status of public radio in Milwaukee. The event will take place today from 7:30 to 9am at the Grand Salon inside the InterContinental Hotel on Kilbourn Avenue. Panelists include representatives from 88nine, WMSE, Wisconsin Public Radio and WUWM.
The Milwaukee Brewers announced plans for a new Bob Uecker statue at Miller Park. Unlike statues that surround Miller Park, this one will be inside the building. The statue will pay tribute to the popular Miller Lite "All Stars" ad campaign, with the bronze Uecker seated in the last row of the Terrace level next to an open seat, perfect for photo opportunities. Dedication will be held the afternoon of April 25th.
Peace For Change Alliance and Voices Against Violence Coalition is holding their 1st Annual Winter Job & Resource Fair today from 9am to noon at the Clinton Rose Senior Center, 2045 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Job candidates will have an opportunity to meet with dozens of employers and resource agencies for face-to-face interviews with companies including Children's Hospital, WE Energies, Forward Dental, Milwaukee County and Walgreens. The Walker's Point neighborhood is getting national attention this week as the subject of a featured story in the New York Times. Titled, "In Milwaukee, a District for a Bite or a Brew" Walker's Point is called "the city's go-to district for innovative artisanal food" and highlights several neighborhood restaurants, antique stores and unique buildings.
