According to JS The Milwaukee River continues to battle an array of environmental assaults - especially pollutants from fertilizer, road salt and human waste. In its latest report card on the health of the river, Milwaukee Riverkeeper gave the Milwaukee a C . That's down from a B-minus last year, the environmental group reported.
Wisconsin's next legislative session is set to get under way today. New Democratic Assembly members are scheduled to be sworn in Monday morning. Both houses will swear in all of their members in simultaneous afternoon ceremonies. The Assembly plans a reception at the state historical museum across from the Capitol. The Senate has scheduled a dessert reception.
According to OnMilwwaukee.com, Walker's Point could be home to Milwaukee's first hostel-style hotel called Third Coast Inn, as two Milwaukee entrepreneurs would like to open it at 602 S. 3rd St. A proposal was filed with the Milwaukee Board of Zoning Appeals. A meeting is set for Jan. 17, 2013. Caorlyn Weber, one fo the projects developers says"Hostels have negative stereotypes and so even if we got approval for the permits, we need approval from those two neighbors which is looking more unlikely,"
